I just finished my beginner photography class, so i want to buy a good quality slr digital camera. I cant decide between canon eos 30d, rebel and nikon d80. I frequently take photos of landscapes and portrait, so i need a good quality lens also. I heard that lenses that comes with the body of the camera is not really good, compared to buying a separate lens. I am planning to spend around 900-1200 $ . So whats the best choice for me ?
No. The Canon lenses made specifically for the DSLR bodies (the EF-S mount) will ONLY work on the DSLR bodies that has a crop factor of 1.6x. These bodies are the 20D, 30D, Rebel XT, and Rebel XTi. They also won’t work with the older 10D, even though that body is also a 1.6x body. The EF-S lens mount protrudes further into the body than the EF mount. When mounted on the 10D, the mirror will actually hit against the lens mount.

Where can i buy a SLR digital camera CAnon D50 in Miami? I’m looking for a specialized OFF-line shop where I can access the goods walk in. CircuitCity, TigerDirect, CompUsa, Wolf Camera don’t have it in stock now, only on order which I don’t like cause I want to choose lenses and body myself before paying. (they have lot of defective items). I don’t want waste my time for replacing, going through US in transit for one day only.
Thank you!

I’ve been doing all my photography with so-called “prosumer grade” digital cameras and have recently begun to understand the limits of those types of cameras. So I’m starting to think about buying a SLR or DSLR body and some lenses. Friends have given me differing opinions on what brand I should go with. I wanted to see what you all have to say about it.
I’m hoping to get some insight into lens quality, availability and options as well as info about the bodies themselves.
Thanks!

I looked at consumer reports – that rated the Nikon D40, D80 pretty highly. I like the 10 megapixels, but some people have been telling me its all about the lenses. Therefore, What lense to people recommend?
there are standard lenses that come with the nikon d40/80 but I looked at nikon.com and they have tons more to choose from. I’m not sure what I should do.
another more experienced photographer I know bought the sony alpha, and said he is going to use his old minolta lenses.
My price range for the total package body + lense is probably 1200-1500.
Any thoughts?

I would like to buy an SRL Digital camera, but I’m sure if I can just buy the body and re-use a lens I have with my regular nondigital Canon SLR.
The digital camera I want is the Canon D20.
THe lens I have is EF 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6

Thanks!
The Sony Alpha is my top choice beacuse I’m told that Minolta film SLR lenses fit (I own one of these). Is this a good choice? I plan to get the body only. Do I need to buy memory or does this come with camera?
Okay I have a question…
I’ve recently purchased a Canon EOS Rebel XTI 10.1 MP (body only). This is my first Digital SLR, so I’m no pro by any means, nor am I looking to spend a lot of money on lenses. I will use the camera primarily for, family events, such as baptisms and birthdays, and travel such as zoo’s, disney world, and arizona..
What would be a good lens for me? Is it best to stick with canon lenses? Is 18-55mm a good lens? 28-90mm? 70-200mm? All suggestions from experienced digital photographers are welcomed.
Thanks.
